An Excellent Time to Replace Your Boat Dock or Boat House Roof

If your boat dock or boat house roof is nearing the end of its life, this year presents a unique opportunity to replace it.
With Smith Mountain Lake experiencing lower-than-normal water levels, our crews have better access around docks, making cleanup easier and allowing us to do an even more thorough job. While every roofing project requires careful planning, roofing over water presents its own unique challenges.
Roofing Over Water Requires More Than Just Roofing
Replacing a boat dock roof is often more labor intensive than replacing the roof on a home. Every step of the project requires additional care to help prevent roofing debris from entering the lake.
Before work begins, we plan our tear-off carefully to minimize debris. Throughout the installation, our crews work methodically to keep the work area as clean as possible.
Roofing is still a demolition process, however, and despite every precaution, the occasional nail or piece of material can find its way into the water. When that happens, we make every reasonable effort to retrieve it before the project is complete.
Our goal is to leave your property, and the lake, as clean as we found it.
Thorough Cleanup

We run powerful magnetic rollers across your dock, and the shallow waters around it, to collect stray roofing nails and fasteners. If your property includes a beach area or shoreline, we'll sweep those areas with magnets as well.
This year has been particularly interesting because of the lake's lower water levels.
We've recovered old framing nails, screws, and other pieces of metal from projects completed many years ago, materials that had been sitting beneath the water, forgotten for decades. Every project gives us an opportunity to remove a little more of that history from the lake while completing your new roof.
Your Dock Deserves the Same Quality as Your Home
To many families, a boat dock isn't simply a structure on the water.
It's where summer mornings begin with coffee overlooking the lake. It's where children learn to fish, families gather for cookouts, and weekends are spent making memories with friends.
During the boating season, many people spend as much time at their dock as they do inside their home.
That's why we don't treat dock roofs as a "smaller job."
We install every boat dock and boat house roof with the same attention to detail, quality materials, and professional workmanship that we bring to every residential roofing project.
Protected for Years to Come
A quality roof protects your dock, your boat, your boat lift, and everything else underneath it from years of weather exposure.
When Mason Roofing completes a full boat dock or boat house roof replacement, your project is backed by our 10-Year Mason Roofing Workmanship Warranty, the same warranty we proudly stand behind on our residential roofing systems.
Whether your dock is used every weekend or serves as your family's favorite gathering place all summer long, we're committed to building a roof that protects it for years to come.

If you've been considering replacing your dock roof, there's no better time than while water levels remain low. We'd be happy to provide a free inspection, discuss your options, and help you protect one of your favorite places on the lake.
