The Roof Replacement Timeline: From Estimate to Final Walkthrough

ree

At Mason Company Roofing, one of the most common questions we get is: “How long will it take to replace my roof?” The answer isn’t black and white. Every roof is different, and the timeline depends on factors like material availability, weather, and project complexity. While many of our replacements can be finished in just one day, the entire process, from your estimate to the final walkthrough, is unique to your home.

Step 1: Requesting an In-Person Estimate (2–5 Business Days)

Every project begins with a visit from one of our team members. We don’t believe in cookie-cutter estimates, we come out in person, walk the property, and look closely at the details of your home.

Most estimates are ready within 2–5 business days. Larger projects that include siding, gutters, or framing may take longer, since they involve multiple specialists.

Step 2: Signing the Contract (Day 0)

Your project officially moves forward once you sign and return the contract. That’s when we begin scheduling materials and preparing for installation.

Step 3: Scheduling & Preparation (2–3 Weeks Out)

On average, projects are scheduled 2–3 weeks out. This accounts for:
  • Material availability – Readily available shingles can arrive quickly, while specialty or custom orders may add time.
  • Weather conditions – Since roofing is weather-dependent, rain or snow can cause shifts in scheduling.
  • Crew coordination – Some projects require additional roofers, siding experts, gutter installers, or framers.
About 7–5 business days before your installation, we’ll have a much clearer picture of your start date. We’ll keep you updated at every step.

Step 4: Roof Replacement Day (Usually 1 Day)

For most homes, a full tear-off and replacement takes one day.
What can extend the timeline?
  • Roof size
  • Steep slopes
  • Multi-story homes
  • Hidden damage uncovered during tear-off
If your project requires extra time, we always leave the roof sealed and weatherproof overnight so your home is protected.

Step 5: Final Walkthrough & Cleanup

After installation, our crew thoroughly cleans up, including running magnets for nails, and completes a final walkthrough. We want you to feel confident that your new roof meets both our standards and yours.

Clear Communication, Every Step of the Way

At Mason Company Roofing, we know timelines can be stressful. That’s why we prioritize communication. We’ll keep you in the loop about:
  • When your materials are arriving
  • When your installation is scheduled
  • What to expect on roofing day
Every project is unique, but you can count on us to keep it simple, honest, and professional from start to finish.

Bottom line: From contract signing to completion, most Mason Company Roofing clients see their new roof within 2–3 weeks. Many are installed in just one day, but every project is different, and we tailor the process to fit your home.
