It’s always an honor to work on a home where the owner has poured so much of themselves into it. The homeowner works at a supply house, so he was able to source all of the materials himself. That meant we could structure the project as a labor only job, he provided the shingles and other supplies, and we focused entirely on the installation. This kind of arrangement can work out really well when both sides communicate clearly from the start. It simplifies the process for us since we don’t have to factor in material acquisition, and it allows the homeowner to take advantage of their own connections and resources. In this case, it made for a smooth start and a straightforward job plan. The materials provided included about 50 squares of shingles, enough to cover the roof with some to spare, which turned out to be an important detail later on.
